Inside the vibrant business community at Access Self Storage Bracknell

A hidden gem amongst the bustling business district, Access Self Storage Bracknell is based in the former building of Panasonic UK’s headquarters in the Southern business area.

Beyond the exterior, you’ll find a storage haven for entrepreneurs. Operating as a business centre with warehousing, the Bracknell facility provides ample space for modular storage, offices, four kitchens, break-out areas, and plenty of parking for business, domestic, vehicle and storage facilities.

The business centre within Access Self Storage houses an eclectic mix of businesses that have found not just storage solutions but a thriving community of collaboration, growth and success. Boasting a variety of customers across many sectors, including a call centre, broadband provider, care agency, courier, pilot training organisation, marketing agency and many more.

Access Self Storage prides itself on providing state-of-the-art storage facilities, perfect for start-ups or medium-sized enterprises. The Bracknell building also offers unfurnished office spaces from 125sq.ft to 1215sq.ft with the latest security using QR codes, creating a safe and secure environment. Their goal is to provide a friendly, warm and welcoming experience and a professional service.

James Byrne, the Store Manager for Access Self Storage Bracknell, started at the site in 2020 after managing the Reading unit, and has been with the company for 14 years. He said: “If you’re tripping over stock in your home or need to declutter or even downsize, we have a solution for you. Bracknell is an all-in-one concept store, our ultimate centre with fully integrated solutions. It’s a modern working environment with great opportunities for collaboration between the businesses we have based here.

“All our residents are local businesses, from start-ups to corporate entities of all sizes – it’s a great asset for the area and it’s gaining momentum. We just want the opportunity to unlock Bracknell and encourage footfall to the area, so everyone knows where we are.”

All about community

Through the nature of their services, community is at the heart of Access Self Storage Bracknell, and they are already reaping the benefits of being a member of Bracknell BID.

James continued: “We are excited about Bracknell BID and the networking opportunities it will give us and our customers. We are all about supporting the business community we have built up here and the BID events and projects are an extension of that. We are looking forward to getting more involved and working closer together, by hosting a ‘Meet Your Neighbour’ networking event in the coming months, providing a tour of the business centre and warehousing setup, and introducing our customers to the Bracknell BID community. We already work with Waitrose, providing the space for their ‘best lorry driver’ event, and are eager to optimise the potential cross-over of services with other businesses around the BID area.”

Where dreams are stored, nurtured and brought to life

There is a life cycle that comes with growth as a business enters the next phase in its journey. However, whilst businesses grow, they can also decline. Access Self Storage offers a safety net, an affordable opportunity to reduce risk. The Bracknell site began its build in 2019 with Covid following shortly after in 2020, which saw the unit become the Bracknell Covid vaccine centre. Meanwhile, many businesses started to struggle with some managing to survive this period and avoid bankruptcy by coming into storage.

James added: “We saw a lot of businesses streamlining and they are now asking for extra space. In another couple of years, they might even need to expand and move on, making way for new business to come in – it’s a natural divergence. I love engaging with small businesses, we are like a big brother, a support network. By being in a shared building they are not taking on leases or using up revenue, which means they are ultimately protecting their profit. I love seeing them prosper and grow. It feels good to be a part of that journey. It’s in our interest to help businesses, then everybody benefits.”

Affordable options

The rental cost at Access covers all services, including on-site parking, use of kitchens and facilities, flexible contract options and a staffed reception with a dedicated customer waiting area.
