A new defibrillator has been purchased and installed by the BID at Greggs on Western Road. This is the second defibrillator the BID has funded, with the first being installed at Acorn House on Longshot Lane. Both defibrillators are housed in a locked cabinet which can be accessed with a code that can be retrieved by calling 999 in case of an emergency.
.
This work ties into BID Business Plan Objective 2: Growth and Investment, which aims to support businesses in Bracknell to grow, develop and invest by creating a great working environment to operate effectively and attract and retain the best people. It ties into Activity 2 Facilities and benefits (b) Develop schemes, benefits and events for those who work in businesses in the BID area which promote the feeling of community, a sense of well-being and encourages staff retention and productivity.
.
It is envisioned that by installing defibrillators in easily accessible public locations, close to businesses to use in case of an emergency will foster the feeling of community, sense of well-being and create a great working environment within the BID which would encourage staff retention and productivity as laid out in the business plan objectives.
.
As heart disease is one the UK’s greatest killers, with the British Heart Foundation statistics estimating that more than 60,000 sudden cardiac arrests take place each year outside of a hospital environment, there is also strong evidence that having defibrillators available at work and in public spaces saves lives.
.
The BID would like to thank Greggs on Western Road for hosting the new defibrillator.
