Investments and innovations for Bracknell-based print company

The Printroom Group in Bracknell has come a long way since it first opened back in 1977, and the family-run business is now on its fourth generation.

Continually innovating to stay ahead, the forward-thinking print company has recently invested £50k on a new system which allows customers to manage their own print orders.

The huge investment comes after the team decided to create a brand-new online, automated marketing portal so that clients have more control and are able to receive their orders quicker than ever.

Simon Lewington, CEO said: “The Printroom Group is so special to us as it’s been our family business since the 70s.

“We’ve grown so much since we first opened. Back in the day we started in a shed at the back of the old cattle market.

Over the years the company moved onto large format printing, graphic design, exhibition media, printed merchandise, marketing materials, scratch cards, roller banners and so much more.

We are now based on Downmill Road in Bracknell and can offer a One-Stop solution for businesses of all sizes

“Our recent investment has meant that clients can easily log in to their online portal and pick what they want. Whether that is materials, posters, fliers, T shirts, hoodies or other promotional materials. The logistics team dispatch for our clients globally”

“The online portal means that clients receive orders so much quicker as the order is processed immediately after being submitted.”

The team has certainly bounced back since the pandemic. Simon added: “Covid was really hard, a lot of our business revolved around exhibitions and obviously they were all cancelled, so it did hit us. We had to look at our services and change things up a bit”.

“That’s where the online portal came in and it’s grown so much more since then. We are proud of it and it’s had fantastic feedback from our clients.”

Another thing that the team at The Printroom Group have spent time looking at is how they can make their services better for the environment. They wanted their services to be sustainable.

Simon said: “We’ve had to battle a lot with the assumption that paper is bad for the environment, but there are ways around this. A lot of plastic in the UK is now PVC free which means that the whole industry is more sustainable.

“It’s important for us to keep up and adapt to these changes. The paper we use is 100% FSC accredited paper – the paper comes from sustainable forests.

The next goal on the team’s list is to look at the new generation of digital printers that will be available in the near future. This will make printing more cost effective which will make the company more competitive for clients.

When asked what they like about being a Bracknell BID business, Simon added: “I think Bracknell is one of the best places to live in and in this area, you literally have everything you need.

“People don’t realise when they’re used to it, but we’ve got it all. The BID has really pulled us together and it’s great being able to network and attend all the events. It means we get to know each other and get a chance to meet our neighbours.

“It’s good to get together with these companies and to make yourself known – otherwise we’d all work in silos.”
