Working with businesses and partners at Bracknell Forest Council, the BID identified defective lighting columns at Longshot Lane Industrial Estate and on Doncastle Road and ensured repair work was carried out before Winter. The BID also funded additional lighting at Easthampstead Road and on the footpath and cyleway adjacent to Mill Lane, to reduce dark spots and improve visibility for pedestrians and cyclists.
The project satisfies Objective 1 Infrastructure activity f) Improve lighting where possible on roads and footpaths generally and in particular at vulnerable junctions and places of more frequent pedestrian activity to ensure safety of all road and footpath users.
Businesses stated road and footpath lighting levels (79%) as an important factor to their business, highlighting the necessity in funding additional lighting and working alongside partners at Bracknell Forest Council to reduce dark spots and improve visibility for pedestrians and cyclists.
The BID has funded two new lighting columns on Easthampstead Road and four new lighting columns on the footpath/cycleway adjacent to Mill Lane. The works on the footpath/cycleway adjacent to Mill Lane will now mean the route between Twin Bridges Roundabout and Doncastle Road/Ellesfield Ave. Roundabout will be fully-lit with no dark spots, improving safety and confidence for walkers and cyclists in the dark evenings.
