CCTV and ANPR Scheme - Bracknell BID

CCTV and ANPR Scheme

Bracknell BID has successfully funded and installed numerous CCTV and ANPR cameras across the Southern and Western Business Areas of Bracknell. This project aligns with the current objectives of the BID, specifically Objective 1 ‘Business Growth and Investment’.

A Proactive Commitment to Safety and Confidence

Bracknell Business Improvement District (BID) is committed to creating a safe, secure, and resilient working environment for all employees, businesses, and visitors within the BID area. Through strategic partnerships and targeted investment, Bracknell BID actively supports initiatives that deter crime, enhance personal safety, and protect commercial property—helping to build confidence in the area as a place to work, invest, and grow.

Advanced CCTV and ANPR Infrastructure

At the heart of Bracknell BID’s safety strategy is a robust network of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems. This infrastructure plays a critical role in deterring criminal activity, improving real-time monitoring, and providing high-quality evidential footage to support investigations and prosecutions.

The system not only enhances personal safety but also acts as a powerful crime-prevention tool—helping to reduce incidents before they occur while creating a strong evidence base when action is required.

Strategic Placement for Maximum Impact

The cameras have been strategically installed following in-depth planning and close collaboration with key partners. Locations were carefully selected to ensure optimal coverage of high-footfall areas, key transport routes, and commercial zones across the BID.

Coverage includes, but is not limited to:

  • Western Road
  • Doncastle Road
  • Easthampstead Road
  • Additional priority locations across the BID area

This targeted approach ensures effective surveillance while supporting a welcoming and well-managed public realm.

Seamless Partnership with Local Authorities

All camera feeds are monitored via the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s CCTV Monitoring Station, ensuring professional oversight and rapid response where required. In addition, footage is securely shared with Thames Valley Police, enabling swift access to critical evidence and supporting efficient crime detection and resolution.

This close working relationship strengthens community safety, enhances intelligence-sharing, and ensures that businesses benefit from a coordinated and responsive security network.

Ongoing Investment in Prevention and Wellbeing

In addition to surveillance infrastructure, Bracknell BID continues to maintain and develop a range of schemes and initiatives focused on crime prevention and environmental safety. These initiatives are designed to support businesses, protect employees, and create a secure and welcoming environment for everyone who works in, visits, or operates within the BID area. Other ongoing projects include Police Business Visits to provide guidance on current issues and Security Forums enabling local businesses to network and share experiences.
