Bracknell BID arranged and hosted a ‘Meet Your Neighbour’ Business Breakfast networking event on Wednesday the 5th March 2025, at The Capitol Building, Oldbury, Bracknell.
These events are regularly arranged by Bracknell BID, and offer a great networking opportunity for local businesses. This particular event was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local and national business leaders, share ideas, and expand networks whilst enjoying a complimentary breakfast.
We had more than 20 attendees from various businesses across the Southern and Western business districts of Bracknell, who enjoyed complimentary refreshments and two hours of networking.
BID Manager Sean Griffin began proceedings by introducing himself and thanking attendees. He began by providing an insight and overview to Bracknell BID, with examples of completed projects and exciting new ventures the team will be undertaking. Bracknell BID has recently received a positive ballot result meaning another five year term will begin imminently, he explained how the objectives have been shaped for this term and some of the work planned to begin.
Sean then introduced two members of DEBRA UK to present. Ann Avarne and Cy Grove work together at DEBRA UK and were able to provide an impactful ad engaging talk about the medical research charity. DEBRA UK is the research charity and patient support organisation for people living with the rare, extremely painful, genetic skin blistering condition, epidermolysis bullosa (EB) also known as ‘butterfly skin’. Their presentation included statistics and videos, highlighting the importance of the work they do, as well as the impact this disease has on both those directly effected by it and the families providing support. They outlined multiple events and fundraising opportunities and provided a clear explanation of how significant this disease is as well as how they are working tirelessly to help improve quality of life for those effected.
Finally, Gareth Mepham from The Wayz Youth Group had an opportunity to discuss his journey and the support this fantastic organisation offer to children and teenagers in the local area. The Wayz prides itself on being a safe and positive place for young people aged between 8 and 25 to attend, engage in a range of activities and opportunities. The work they do is based around four strands; education, empowerment, equality and participation. Gareth was able to give real life examples of positive outcomes for teenagers struggling, being able to express feelings, meet friends, get active and also engage in training opportunities to give them the best chance of a happy future.
Bracknell BID would like to thank all of those who attended this event, as well as Capitol Building for hosting and catering. To see other past networking events click here.
