Meet the Board: Nicola Webb, Segro - Bracknell BID

Meet the Board: Nicola Webb, Segro

Tell us a little bit about you and your company
I work for SEGRO, a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) specialising in owning and developing industrial and logistics space. Our UK portfolio spans the South East and the Midlands, with offices in seven other European countries. I’ve been with SEGRO for nearly 12 years, based in the Slough office, where I primarily focus on the Slough Trading Estate.

Can you give us some background to your working career?
Before joining SEGRO, I worked as an Industrial Agent at GVA Grimley as well as several other practices. I’ve spent my entire career in the industrial sector and have seen the landscape evolve significantly over time.

Why are you a BID board director and why do you volunteer your time for the local business community?
Although I don’t work in Bracknell directly, SEGRO has long been invested in the area. We own estates locally and are the developer and owner of SEGRO Park Bracknell on the Southern Estate. Our success is tied to the prosperity of the towns where we operate, and we want to see Bracknell continue to grow and thrive.

Why are you passionate about the Bracknell BID area?
Bracknell has historically been overshadowed by nearby towns like Reading, often seen as a secondary location. I believe this perception is outdated and doesn’t reflect the potential and vibrancy of the area. The industrial and commercial zones are crucial to the town’s economy, providing employment and opportunity. The BID plays a key role in raising Bracknell’s profile and supporting this vital business community.

What skills and experience do you bring to the BID board?
I bring a different perspective as a landlord representative rather than an occupier. This gives me a broader view of the challenges and opportunities across the estate and helps ensure diverse voices are considered in BID discussions.

What projects or initiatives that the BID has delivered are you most proud of?
There’s a lot to be proud of, but I think the introduction of CCTV and ANPR across the estate stands out. While crime levels were already low, this large-scale initiative acts as a strong deterrent and will have a lasting impact on safety and peace of mind.

What difference do you hope the BID will have made in the next five years?
With several major improvements already made, the next five years are about building on that momentum, continuing to enhance the environment, deliver meaningful change, and make Bracknell an even better place to work and do business.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
My two teenage daughters keep me on my toes, but when I do find the time, I love playing golf.

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve been given?
“Always remember it’s a small world, you’ll likely cross paths with people more than once.” That’s stuck with me throughout my career.
