For over 40 years, Thames Valley Windows has been helping homeowners and businesses transform their spaces through high-quality glazing. Based on Longshot Lane in Bracknell’s Western Business Area, the company has operated locally for around 30 years and has become a familiar and trusted name within the Bracknell business community.
Founded in 1984, Thames Valley Windows began as a small family operation and has grown steadily while remaining proudly family-run. Today, the business is led by Managing Director Ryan Schofield, who oversees the day-to-day running of the company alongside a team of five directors. That continuity and family ethos continue to shape how the business operates, with a strong focus on long-term relationships, consistent quality and doing things the right way.
Operating from two units on Longshot Lane, Thames Valley Windows employs around 21 full-time staff. Together, the wider team of around 60 people delivers a comprehensive range of glazing solutions, including windows, doors, conservatories, rooflights and bespoke glass installations for both residential and commercial clients across the South East.
Built on quality, reliability and care
Rather than relying on a formal mission statement, Thames Valley Windows is guided by clear values: quality workmanship, reliability and genuine care for customers and staff alike. In an industry where trust is vital, the business stands out by offering dependable products, clear communication and strong aftercare.
All installations are backed by warranties, and any issues are dealt with promptly and professionally. This approach has helped the company build a loyal customer base, with much of its work coming through recommendations and repeat business.
Consistency that sets them apart
A key strength of Thames Valley Windows is its long-standing loyalty to suppliers. The business works with trusted partners to maintain consistency and reliability across every project.
Ryan explains:
“We’re very loyal to our suppliers. We believe that to offer consistency to our customers, it’s important to have a consistent supply.”
By prioritising long-term quality over short-term savings, the company delivers results customers can rely on and finishes that stand the test of time.
Experience you can see in the work
Ryan quite literally grew up with the business, which started at the family kitchen table when he was just five years old. After school, he spent time working in IT and financial brokerage before returning to the family firm at the age of 22. What was initially intended as a temporary move quickly became a long-term career.
Now with more than 23 years’ experience in the glazing industry, Ryan also brings valuable insight from his interest in property development. Combined with the expertise of the wider director team, this gives Thames Valley Windows a strong understanding of both glazing systems and the wider construction and development process.
From everyday improvements to standout projects
Thames Valley Windows works across a wide range of projects, from straightforward home improvements to complex, large-scale installations. Alongside standard windows and doors, the company also delivers more aspirational products, including large-scale glazing, sliding doors and bi-fold systems.
“We cover the everyday products that most people need, but we also work on more ambitious projects,” says Ryan. “Some of our work has even featured on programmes like Grand Designs.”
The depth of experience within the team allows the business to take on specialist projects requiring cranes and bespoke solutions. Many team members have been with the company for 30 to 35 years, bringing an exceptional level of skill, continuity and pride in the work they deliver.
Industry recognition and awards
The quality of Thames Valley Windows’ work has been recognised at a national level. The business has been nominated multiple times for the GGP Installer Awards and the G-Awards, reaching finalist status in categories including Best Residential Installer, Best Commercial Project and Best Front Door Installation.
More recently, the company received a Highly Commended award at the GGP25 Awards for Best Installation – Residential (Over £30,000), reflecting its ability to deliver complex, high-value projects to an outstanding standard.
Part of Bracknell’s Business Community
Although not all employees live locally, Thames Valley Windows actively engages with Bracknell BID initiatives. The BID Loyalty Card scheme is particularly popular with staff, while the improved wayfinding signage has helped make the area easier to navigate and more connected. The Shuttle Bus also provides a valuable option for team members commuting by train.
Ryan believes Bracknell BID plays an important role in supporting local businesses and strengthening the area’s appeal, helping to make Bracknell “an attractive location for businesses considering relocation.”
Community focus and looking ahead
Giving back to the community is an important part of the business culture. Team members regularly support BID projects, including bulb planting at Farleymoor Lake and local ‘Tidy Day’ litter picks. The company also supports the local hospice, has sponsored a local Scouts group for more than a decade, and previously sponsored Bracknell Rugby Club.
Sustainability is another key focus. Large volumes of glass, plastic and timber are removed during installations, and the business recycles wherever possible. A dedicated glass storage and collection rota ensures materials are handled and disposed of safely and responsibly.
Looking ahead, Ryan says:
“With over 40 years’ experience, we’ve had to evolve several times as a business. Our focus now is on consolidating what we do well and continuing to grow in a sustainable way.”
With strong local roots, an experienced workforce and excellent transport links, Bracknell remains the ideal base for Thames Valley Windows as it continues to support customers, create skilled jobs and contribute to the local business community.
