Bracknell BID supported No Mow May at Farleymoor Lake, a simple but impactful initiative to boost local biodiversity. By reducing mowing across selected grassland areas, the project allowed wildflowers to grow and bloom naturally, providing vital food sources for pollinators such as bees, butterflies and other insects.
This approach enhanced the ecological value of the lake’s surroundings, improved habitat diversity, and contributed to a healthier, more resilient natural environment within the BID area. It also helped raise awareness among businesses and visitors about the importance of sustainable land management practices.
This project supported Objective 2 – 3a & 3b: Biodiversity by improving the management of green spaces and encouraging awareness and adoption of biodiversity-focused practices that deliver measurable benefits.
