Bracknell BID recently delivered a successful STEM Careers Day, bringing together local schools, innovative businesses, and industry professionals to inspire young people and showcase the wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics opportunities across the Bracknell BID business community.
This initiative demonstrates Bracknell BID’s dedication to fostering business growth and investment, consistent with Objective 1 outlined in the 2025–2030 Business Plan.
Hosted at Waitrose Conference Centre, the STEM Careers Day welcomed students from local secondary schools who took part in a varied programme of activities, including inspiring business talks, company presentations and interactive networking with employers. One of the highlights of the day was a hands-on STEM Challenge, seeing teams compete to construct the tallest free-standing tower using only paper and tape, displaying their creativity, innovation and teamwork.
Cadence Design Systems played a key role by leading the challenge and presenting awards to the winning team. The event also welcomed participation from major organisations such as Dell, Eli Lilly, GE Vernova, KCP, Reliance High Tech, TD Synnex, John Lewis Partnership & Waitrose, and the Bracknell Skills Hub, each sharing valuable career insights and opportunities with students.
Teachers accompanying the students noted how valuable the experience was in helping young people connect classroom learning with real careers, particularly in sectors facing skills shortages.
Bracknell BID would like to thank all participating businesses for their enthusiasm and support, as well as the students and schools who attended and made the day such a success. We look forward to continuing to develop opportunities that strengthen connections between education and industry, and that help prepare future talent for careers within the BID area.
