Cadence – Meet the company transforming the way people design next-generation systems

Founded in 1988, with 10,500 employees based globally in over 25 countries, Cadence Design Systems Inc. is a pivotal leader in computational software, enabling electronic systems and semiconductor companies to create innovative products that transform the way people live, work, and play.

Cadence provides the expertise and tools, IP, and hardware required for the entire electronics design chain, from chip design to chip packaging to boards and systems. Their applications are vast and include hyperscale computing, 5G communications, automotive, mobile, aerospace, consumer, industrial, healthcare, and many other market segments.

Innovative, thought-leading, and trustworthy, the Cadence team prides themselves on creating and sustaining a company culture that drives innovation and business success.”

Nick Phillips is the Sales Operations Director for EMEA at Cadence and has been with the business for 15 years. He said, “We’ve been in Bracknell for 25 years, it’s our European Headquarters and the perfect location for supporting our wide customer base. I am also the Site Manager for our Bracknell UK Office, where I work to create a vibrant and inclusive culture that fosters collaboration and talent development.

“Bracknell BID has been a great platform for us, we’ve met lots of our business neighbours and had the opportunity to present. A lot of what we do is hidden within larger brands, so Bracknell BID is a great way to get our name out there, and it also feeds naturally into our employee wellbeing, too. I’ve had lots of discussions with people in the local area, and as a result, I have a good idea of local suppliers. It’s important for us to support the area in which we’re based, we organise a lot of charity events and initiatives, and so it’s a great way to foster connections in the local community and identify projects or schemes that we could support in the future – it just makes sense to be involved.”

Passionate about sustainability and the local community

As the impact of climate change intensifies, Cadence is increasingly providing creative solutions to reduce power consumption and enable more sustainable innovation across the tech industry.

Nick says, “Sustainability is a huge thing for us, and we are committed to investing our resources to improve our own operational footprint. Cadence’s 2023 Environmental, Social, and Governance Report sets out our accomplishments so far and outlines our ambitious goals for the future, one of which includes achieving NetZero by 2040.”

In 2022, Cadence was named an Official Technology Partner of the McLaren Formula 1 Team, supporting them in their own sustainability commitments whilst delivering specialist software to provide innovative aerodynamic prediction tools.

Cadence is also doing meaningful work to empower the next generation of STEM talent in partnership with local communities and universities, and they have donated more than $3.7 million through the Cadence Giving Foundation to impact environmental sustainability, access to STEM education, and additional local and global initiatives.

They have recently joined the Pledge 1% alliance to contribute 1% of employee time, Cadence technology, and profit to drive meaningful change in their core focus areas.

On a local level, Cadence supports a variety of charities such as Sebastian House, The Wayz, and Thames Valley Hospice. During the pandemic, they donated a number of laptops to Bracknell Forest Council as part of the Homestart Initiative, and their Bracknell team partnered with Rise Against Hunger to help pack 43,200 meals, helping to sustain 200 children for an entire year at school worldwide. They also work with local schools and colleges to deliver talks, attend careers fairs, and support academic sponsorships.

Cadence has a mission to help solve technologies’ toughest challenges in order to make a lasting, positive impact on our world.”
