Home-Start Bracknell Forest is a local lifeline for families with young children (0–5) facing tough times. They walk alongside parents when they feel overwhelmed, offering warmth, understanding, and practical help. Many of Home Start’s families work for BID-based companies, and Home Start makes a point to be there to support them outside of work so that they can be focused inside work.
Home Start trains volunteers who are often parents or grandparents themselves, bringing lived experience, familiarisation and compassion into weekly home visits, helping families tackle isolation, mental health struggles, financial worries and varying parenting challenges. In the programme, every participating family receives at least 12 weeks of one-to-one support, followed by group sessions or referrals to other services if needed.
“We believe in the power of connection and resilience, and our workshops and activities help families build community, support children’s development, and nurture emotional well-being. Every child deserves a safe, loving start in life, and every parent deserves someone in their corner.” –Keith Hanks, Fundraising & Engagement Officer Home Start Bracknell
