1-Fix – Empowering Thames Valley businesses with secure, strategic and relationship-led IT support.

Craig Atkins, Managing Director of 1-Fix is sat on a sofa with the business logo illuminated behind him.

Where are you located within the BID area (Western or Southern business area?) Have you always been here?
We’re based in the Access Office Building (Access Storage) in the Southern Business Area. Although 1-Fix was founded in 2002, we relocated to Bracknell from Winnersh Triangle in early 2025. The move felt like a natural step for us, it’s more central for our clients and better suited to our growth plans. Even though we haven’t been here long, we’ve genuinely felt at home from the start.

What’s your company’s history in Bracknell?
While we only moved here last year, the majority of our clients are already based in Bracknell, including businesses in the Western Business Area, and over half of our team live locally. The welcome we’ve received through BID events and from neighbouring businesses has been fantastic, everyone is friendly and supportive. It already feels like we’ve been part of the community for years.

Do you have multiple locations?
No, we operate from one location in Bracknell. However, we support clients across the UK, and some have international offices. We also have two valued team members based in Sri Lanka who provide essential support to our operations.

How many staff?
We have a team of 14 incredible people. What makes me most proud is that everyone shares the same values, which is rare and something we’ve worked hard to build.

What service or products do you provide?
Our core service is outsourced IT support and cybersecurity for businesses. Alongside that, we offer connectivity solutions, telephony, compliance consultancy, hardware procurement, AI consultancy, process automation, discovery sessions, and one-off technical support.

We’ve been operating for 24 years, and our aim has always been to make IT work well for businesses, helping them grow rather than slowing them down.

When/where were you founded and by whom?
I founded 1-Fix in 2002 after turning my passion for technology into a business. My wife Sarah joined in 2003 and is now Director and Head of Accounts. In 2008, we became a limited company. What started as a small operation has grown steadily into the business we are today.

Who is the director?
I, Craig Atkins, am the Managing Director and oversee the wider strategy and operations of the business. Sarah is also a Director and leads our accounts and financial management.

Do you have a mission statement? What is your aim or key value you pride yourselves on?
Our mission is to empower exceptional people to deliver relationship-centric IT services that drive real results.

We partner with IT decision-makers in growing Thames Valley businesses, speak their language, solve problems clearly, and invest in their success as if it were our own.

At its heart, our aim is simple: IT should make life easier for businesses – not more complicated.

What makes you different from competitors, do you have a USP (unique selling point?)
What sets us apart is how deeply we build relationships with our clients. We don’t want anyone to feel that dread when calling IT support. Our clients know our team personally, they ask about holidays, check in when someone’s had a tough time, and even send wedding gifts. We do the same for them.

We truly become an extension of their business, and that human connection makes a huge difference.

Can you give us a word from the director/manager about your background, why your business is important, and how you retain customers and attract new business?
My background has always been in tech – I even remember working with floppy disks and dial-up internet. I realised early on that businesses don’t want to deal with IT issues or cybersecurity risks themselves, it’s time-consuming and stressful.

What matters most to me is building real relationships. We take time to understand how our clients work, their goals, and their vision. IT should support those ambitions, not hold them back.

The technology is important, of course, but it’s the people that shape the experience. That’s what we focus on.

We retain customers through trust, responsiveness and by genuinely caring about their success. A large portion of our new business comes through referrals from happy clients who recommend us.

What makes your company successful in the current market?
The IT market is competitive, and many businesses are tied into long contracts or hesitant to switch providers. What makes us successful is our reputation within the local business community. When companies begin exploring other options, we can immediately reassure them and make the transition straightforward.

Our friendly team and strong referral network play a big part in our continued growth.

Has your company received any awards in recent years?
Yes, we’ve been named one of Britain’s Top 50 Managed Service Providers for seven consecutive years.

We’ve also received:

  • Network Group MSP of the Year 2024
  • Network Group Member Initiative of the Year 2025
  • Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Workplace Wellbeing Award 2023
  • Global Tech Insider’s Best Business IT Support Provider – Berkshire 2026

It’s been a proud few years for the team.

What is your favourite BID initiative and why?
It’s difficult to choose just one. Some of our team regularly attend the free bootcamp sessions, which are great for both physical and mental wellbeing.

Personally, I value the Meet Your Neighbour networking events. They’ve helped us build strong local connections and feel settled in Bracknell very quickly. There’s a clear commitment from the BID to improve the area, and that’s great to see.

What do you do for the community/sustainability?
Community involvement has become increasingly important to us. Last year, four members of our team ran the Reading Santa Race to raise funds for No5 Young People, raising over £350. We also donated more than £2,000 to charities including Berkshire Youth and The Link Visiting Scheme.

On sustainability, we use the Zellar platform to measure and improve our environmental performance. We’ve achieved a strong rating thanks to efforts in reducing waste and encouraging green travel.

What are your business’s plans for the future?
Our vision is to become the most trusted IT partner in the Thames Valley. We want to be known for making technology human, continually raising standards, and building relationships that turn service into long-term success.

We’ll continue supporting local charities, helping businesses use AI confidently, and working to reduce the number of businesses affected by cybercrime.
